JTC Joinery Consultants is the pinnacle of consultants, utilising Malcolm Birchwood’s experience and knowledge gained during a long and varied career in the joinery industry. JTC is an independent consultancy offering expert technical advice to those demanding the best possible result from the use of wood and joinery in construction.
JTC Joinery Consultants' advice is sought by architects, designers, surveyors, property agents, owners, consultants, contract managers, contractors, manufacturers and distributors. Its technical services have been used on projects ranging from residential properties, office developments and hotels through to high profile projects such as the Guildhall School of Music and Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport.
Malcolm’s career has spanned the joinery, refurbishment, commercial fit-out and shop fitting industry. Having held senior roles in several companies and as managing director of three companies, Malcolm has been responsible for driving the introduction and use of new technology and methods. His product knowledge and technical expertise led to a patent being granted on a personally designed and developed Modular Building System.
Drawing on over forty years’ experience, JTC Joinery Consultants offers design advice and technical support, cost planning, specification and contractual material together with an expert witness and dispute resolution service.

Clare Emblin

Co-director, with over 35 years’ experience in the construction industry, specialising in the refurbishment of residential and commercial properties, Clare is able to complement Malcolm’s skill and expertise.

Saul Giedraitis

Saul is a very capable Site Manager with 28 years of experience under his belt which includes ten years in the high specification residential sector. While working for Holloway White Allom, he was involved with several prestigious projects including The Boltons in Chelsea and Kensington Palace Gardens. He is responsible for all site-related matters including health and safety, recording and reporting, surveying, and of course the day-to-day running and management of our sites.

John Goff

Draughtsman, with over 30 years’ experience, John is able to produce 3D design renders and illustrations to assist clients with their understanding of the finished appearance following on with full working drawings ready for manufacture.

Richard Giddings

The newest member of our team, Richard has the dual role of Project Manager and Technical Advisor. He has been working in the timber and joinery industry since 1983 and his impressive portfolio includes numerous high profile projects such as The Guildhall School of Music for Sir Robert McAlpine and TV presenter Nick Ross’ former £32m residence in Notting Hill. He has vast knowledge of the industry with particular expertise in joinery manufacturing, materials finishes and project management.

Malcolm is very passionate about the countryside, conservation and fishing. Malcolm has successfully trained a number of working dogs both for himself and also in a professional capacity.
Clare is a keen horsewoman and whilst no longer competing on a serious level, is retraining her ex-racehorse for a new life in the dressage and show rings.
